In bygone times fishermen would wear them over thick wool jumpers. Cut with a shorter sleeve to stop them from getting wet while lugging their catch. They soon caught on with artists, craftsmen and craftswomen, not only across Britain but the throughout the world.

The Classic Navy Smock from Yarmouth Oilskins has a wider open neck and two pockets, made in 100% cotton twill and with contrast taped vents and cuffs treatment. The beauty of cotton twill is that the more the smock is washed the more it becomes yours, giving that lived in look.
