The award-winning Welcombe Hills Vineyard grow their grapes on land once farmed by the Shakespeare family overlooking the Bard’s own Stratford-upon-Avon. Perched at the top of Welcombe Hills on rocky clay terroir the site has great drainage sloping down to the river Avon – the perfect conditions to aid the complex flavours of the award-winning wines they produce.
This 2014 English Sparkling Blanc de Noirs has been aged for 5 years on the lees giving it an immediately inviting nose, creamy lemon, brioche with a touch of hazelnuts and subtle cherry hints. Redcurrants come through on the palate to join lemon zest, cream and pastry with a slightly nutty finish. This is a brilliantly balanced English Sparkling wine, full of depth, freshness and complexity and perfect for any celebration.
